The state government has given a big gift to its more than 17 lakh 7th pay commission employees. In fact, immediately after the DA hike by the central employees, the state government has approved 3 percent dearness allowance for its employees-pensioners. After which their basic salary has increased from 28 to 31 percent. Notification for this has also been issued.
Hours after the Union Cabinet approved a 3 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance for government employees and pensioners with effect from January 1, 2022, the Maharashtra government has also decided to pay for its employees from 28% of the basic pay as on January 1, 2022. A notification has been issued announcing the increase of 31%. Along with this, the pending dues will also be paid to the employees from July 1, 2021.
The Maharashtra government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 3% for its 17 lakh employees. The announcement came hours after the Center announced a similar hike for itself and pensioners with effect from January 1, 2022. State government employees will get 31 percent of the basic salary as DA. Along with this, their dues pending from July 1, 2021 will also be paid.

Dearness Allowance is a component of the salary of government employees and retirees. Which helps to offset the effects of inflation. DA for central government employees will be increased from 31 per cent to 34 per cent of the basic pay. State Finance Department Deputy Secretary VA Dhotre released the government resolution. Which states that DA will be paid to government employees as per the existing provisions and procedures. Due to the pandemic, the central government had put a moratorium on the increase in DA/DR from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.
