Travel allowance will be available in Tejas Express
The Department of Expenditure (DoE) of the Ministry of Finance has issued a notification that now central employees will be able to travel by Tejas train on their official tour. IRCTC’s Tejas Express is the country’s first private and premium class train. Now the Finance Ministry has approved the use of it for the officials for their official travel plans.
Category wise TA calculation?
Travel allowance is divided into 3 categories on the basis of pay matrix level. Cities and towns are divided into two categories. This classification has been done on the basis of the population of the cities. The first category – Higher Transport Allowance is of the city and the other cities have been kept in the category of others. The formula for the calculation is Total Transport Allowance = TA + [(TA x DA% )\/100].
How much travel allowance is available in which category?
Travel allowance has also increased due to the dearness allowance being 38 percent. In TPTA cities, TPTA is Rs 1350 for level 1-2, Rs 3600 for level 3-8 employees and Rs 7200 for level 9 above. The rate of transport allowance available to employees of any one category is the same. Just the dearness allowance received by them is added to it. Level 9 and above employees get Rs 7,200 Transport Allowance + DA for cities with higher transport allowance. For other cities, this allowance is Rs 3,600 + DA. Similarly, employees from level 3 to 8 get 3,600 plus DA and 1,800 plus DA. Talking about Level 1 and 2, Rs 1,350 + DA is available for first class cities in this category, while Rs 900 + DA is available for other cities.
How to understand how much DA increased?
Travel allowance is a part of gross salary. Suppose the basic salary of a level-3 central employee in Delhi is Rs 21,700. After this, 38 percent dearness allowance will be added on this. He will get Rs 8246 as dearness allowance. Now the travel allowance of an employee working in Delhi is Rs 3,600. Now 38 percent dearness allowance will be added to it. Meaning 1368 rupees will be added to it. The total travel allowance will be Rs 4968. At the same time, before July 2022, the dearness allowance of the employee was 34 percent, so he used to get 3600 + 34% DA = Rs 4824. Altogether he got a profit of Rs 144 per month.
19 cities fall in the first category
In terms of travel allowance available to central employees, 19 cities have been kept in category A. These include the cities of Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Ghaziabad, Greater Mumbai, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Nagpur, Patna, Pune and Surat. The rest of the cities have been put in the category of others.
How much TA do the employees who drive by car get?
