Before the increase in dearness allowance, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has given a big relief in the process related to claiming education allowance of children.
Central government employees are waiting for the increase in dearness allowance, but even before the increase in DA, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has given a big relief to claim children’s education allowance. The Central Government employees had faced a lot of problems in the 2020-21 academic year due to the lockdown imposed due to Corona, due to which the DoPT has given relief in the Children Education Allowance (CEA) claim rule.
Central employees get CEA of Rs 2250 per month as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. However, due to Corona and the lockdown imposed due to this, the central personnel were facing difficulties in getting the claim for CEA as the school did not have the result/report cards through SMS/e-mail from the school of the children despite the fees being deposited online. Sent. Now DoPT has said that CEA claim can be availed either by self attested or through print out of result/report card/e-mail/SMS of fee payment. However, this facility will be available only for the academic year ending in March 2020 and March 2021.
Allowance is available for children’s education and hostel expenses
In the Office Memorandum issued on July 1, 2021, the DoPT has said that the department is receiving several queries regarding difficulties being faced by the central personnel in claiming CEA. Regarding this, it was then decided to give them relief for the academic year ending in March 2020 and March 2021. The DoPT has also said that there is no need to reopen the matter for central personnel for whom CEA claim has already been settled in favor. Central employees get CEA from the central government every month to meet their children’s school education and their hostel needs.
This is the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission
The 7th Pay Commission had recommended that the employees should be paid CEA at the rate of Rs 2250 per month. 6750 per month was recommended for hostel subsidy. Apart from this, the 7th Pay Commission had recommended that whenever DA is increased by 50 percent, CEA and hostel subsidy should also be increased by 25 percent. There is no increase in DA since last year 2020 and it is expected that soon the government will revise the DA rates.
