Kerala Government Announces Onam Bonus
In fact, the Kerala government on Monday announced a financial package for all government employees and pensioners for the state’s festival Onam. About 13 lakh people will benefit from this.
Over the years, Onam Bonus has been a custom. This time it includes Rs 4,000 for all government employees and Rs 2,750 for those who are not eligible for bonus.
Apart from this, all the state government employees will get Rs 20,000 as advance, which will be recovered in installments in the coming months .
Pensioners will get an additional Rs 1,000 along with their monthly pension, while all part-time and casual employees will get Rs 6,000 as advance along with their August pay cheque.
There is also a trend of giving Onam bonus in the private sector, to meet its Onam commitments, the state government, which is facing shortage of money, will have to spend an additional Rs 1,000 crore. Meanwhile, the general norm in the private sector in the state is that all employees are eligible to get one month’s salary as Onam bonus.
Unlike the last two years when the festival was less celebrated due to the pandemic, this year the state is all set to return to the pre-Covid times and celebrate the harvest festival in a grand manner.
