The new dearness allowance will be applicable from January 1, 2022. Not only this, along with this increased DA, employees-pensioners will also get arrears for January, February and March 2022.
Actually, at present central employees are getting 31% dearness allowance, which has been increased by 3% to 34%. It will benefit more than one crore government employees and pensioners i.e. 50 lakh employees and 65 lakh pensioners. The dearness allowance to central employees and dearness relief to pensioners will together cost the exchequer Rs 9,544.50 crore per annum. This will increase the salary up to 2 lakhs. The special thing is that now government employees will also get arrears for January, February and March.
The Department of Expenditure of the Ministry of Finance has issued a notification regarding the increase in dearness allowance of central employees. The arrears of dearness allowance will not be paid before the payment of salary for the month of March 2022, that is, after the salary of March, the arrears between January and March will be paid to the central employees
Whose salary will increase
Since the basic salary of central employees is between Rs 18,000 to Rs 56,900, in such a situation, if the DA is 34%, an employee with a salary of Rs 18,000 per month will get Rs 6120 per month / yearly Rs 6,480 and the annual DA of 56000 salary will be Rs 20,484. The amount of arrears for 2 months will come to about Rs 1,080. Now on the basic salary of Rs 18,000, the total annual DA will be Rs 73,440 but the annual increase in salary will be Rs 6,480.
Similarly, the basic salary of an employee with a basic salary of Rs 56,900 will increase by Rs 232,152 according to the allowance of Rs 19346 / month. If the basic pay of the employee is Rs 18,500, then he will get DA of Rs 6290 at the rate of 34% i.e. in gross salary. There has been an increase of Rs. 555. Similarly, the DA of the employees in the maximum salary slab will increase to Rs. 19346 per month.
Dearness allowance increases twice a year
According to the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, dearness allowance and dearness relief are increased twice a year. These increases are made on half yearly basis. Dearness allowance is a part of salary. It is a fixed percentage of the basic salary of the employee. To reduce the effect of inflation in the country, the government gives dearness allowance to its employees. It is extended from time to time. Pensioners also get the benefit of this. This time the increase will be applicable from January 1 to January 30.
