The amount of insurance will be decided by SBI according to the period of opening of their Jan Dhan account to the customers. Customers whose Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account has been opened till August 28, 2018 will get a sum insured of up to Rs 1 lakh on the RuPay PMJDY card issued to them. Whereas on RuPay cards issued after August 28, 2018, accidental cover benefit of up to Rs 2 lakh will be available.

Who will get the benefit of this scheme
Jan Dhan account holders will get the benefit of Accidental Death Insurance under RuPay Debit Card when the insured has done any successful financial or non-financial transaction on any channel, both intra or inter bank within 90 days from the date of accident. In such case only the amount will be paid.

To get the claim, you have to first fill the claim form. Along with this, the original death certificate or certified copy will have to be attached. Attach the original or certified copy of the FIR. There should also be post mortem report and FSL report. Aadhar card copy. Affidavit of having RuPay card with the cardholder will have to be given on the bank stamp paper. All documents have to be submitted within 90 days. The name and bank details of the nominee will have to be submitted along with the copy of the passbook.

6. Declaration on behalf of the card issuing bank duly signed by the authorized signatory and bank stamp.
