The state government will give salary for the period of maternity leave to women earning less than Rs 21,000.



Maternity Leave Salary: Before the festivals, the Manohar Lal Khattar government of Haryana has given a big gift to the women employees. The state government has taken a big decision on paying salaries to women employees even during maternity leave. Under this, now the salary of contractual women employees in government departments, who are getting a monthly salary of more than Rs 21 thousand, during the period of maternity leave, will now be borne by the concerned department itself. The state government will give salary for the period of maternity leave to women earning less than Rs 21,000.

In this way women employees will get the benefit of salary and leave

In this regard, instructions have been issued to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Department, under this, the salary for the period of maternity leave will be paid to the contractual women employees with a salary of more than Rs 21 thousand, through the Haryana Skill Employment Corporation. The state government will give salary for the period of maternity leave to women earning less than Rs 21,000. The Chief Secretary has clarified the eligibility of maternity leave under the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 to women employees drawing salary less than Rs 21,000 per month on contract basis.

Like government employees, these workers also get 6 months maternity leave.

Let us tell you that in Haryana, there is a rule to give six months’ maternity leave to contractual women employees on the lines of permanent employees. According to the provisions of the Maternity Benefit Act, a female employee should not be deprived of the benefit of six months’ maternity leave. These instructions will be applicable to all women employees. Similarly, if the contract of women employees appointed on contract basis expires during their maternity leave, their contract will automatically be extended for the period of their maternity leave.
