The central government had banned the DA hike of employees during the first wave of the Covid-19 epidemic. It was reinstated again after 18 months and since then the DA for a period of one and a half years is stuck. Along with this, the government has to announce the new DA on March 16.
new Delhi. The central government can soon give the gift of Holi to its employees. Apart from increasing Dearness Allowance (DA) in salary this week, the old DA stuck for 18 months can also be settled. Sources related to the matter say that on March 16, the government can take a decision on this.
Sources say that this time the DA will be increased by 3 percent, which will increase from 31 percent to 34 percent. If this happens, then there will be a big increase in the salary of the employees according to their basic salary. Apart from this, the government can also decide on the DA stopped on March 16 itself. It is being said that the government is preparing to do one time settlement of 18 months DA. The government has now put on hold the decision to pay arrears from January 2020 to June 2021.
Election Delay
Delay in decision on increase in dearness allowance and stalled DA is due to the ongoing assembly elections in five states including UP. The employees were demanding restoration of the DA which had been pending for 18 months for a long time. A decision on this is to come on March 16 and before that talks will be held with the Cabinet Secretary. If the government increases dearness allowance, then about 48 lakh employees and 68 lakh pensioners will benefit.
Now DA is available at the rate of 31 percent
At present, government employees get 31 percent DA. With this increase of 3 percent, the salary of government employees will increase up to a maximum of Rs 20,000 and a minimum of Rs 6,480. According to the data of AICPI (All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers), DA has reached 34.04% till December 2021. If the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000 per month, then the new DA (34%) will get Rs 6,120 per month. At present, Rs 5,580 is being available on DA being 31%.
