Variable Dearness Allowance Hike Indian Railways has increased the Variable Dearness Allowance for lakhs of contractual workers working here. There has been a benefit of 4.26 percent in their dearness allowance.
Indian Railways has increased the Variable Dearness Allowance of lakhs of contractual workers working here. There has been a benefit of 4.26 percent in their dearness allowance. It has increased from 340.95 percent to 345.21. The Ministry of Railways has decided to implement this hike from October 1, 2021.
9 units workers benefit
The Railway Board has said in its order that this increase should be implemented with immediate effect in all the zones across the country. The letter has been addressed to the units of the Railways. According to Director (Estt) Praveen Kumar, these workers work in 9 units of the railways. Their VDA has been increased.

- Metro Railway / Kolkata, CORE / Prayagraj
- The CAO (Construction), All Indian Railways
- The Director General, RDSO/Lucknow
- The DG/Railway Staff College, Vadodara
- The DGs/IRICEN, IRIEEN, IRISET, IRIMEE, IRITM
- The CAO, COFMOW, Tilak Bridge, New Delhi
- The CAO, Rail Coach Factory/Raebareli
- The CAO, Rail Wheel Plant, Bela
Workers working here will benefit
- Labor in Mines : Joe Labor Gypsum Mines, Clay Mines, Magnesite Mines, China Clay Mines, Kyanite Mines, Copper Mines, Clay Mines, Magnesite Mines, White Clay Mines, Stone Mines, Steatite Mines (manufacturing soap stones and talc) Ocher Mines, Asbestos Mines, Fire Clay Mines, Chromites Mines, Quartzite Mines, Quartz Mines, Silica Mines, Graphite Mines, Felspar Mines, Laterite Mines, Dolomite Mines, Red Oxide Mines, Wolfram Mines, Iron Ore Mines, Granite Mines working in rock phosphate mines, hematite mines, marble and calcite mines, uranium mines, mica mines, lignite mines, gravel mines, slate mines and magnetite mines have increased their VDA.
- Workers engaged in construction: Labor engaged in the construction or maintenance of roads or runways or in building operation underground electric, wireless, radio, television, telephone, telegraph and overseas communication cables and other similar underground cabling work. Apart from this, the people who do other works including laying of electric lines, water supply lines and sewerage pipelines will be benefited.
- Loading-unloading ones : loading and unloading in goods sheds, parcel offices of railways, other goods-sheds, warehouses, godowns and other similar employment; Contractual workers engaged in baggage and cargo (both international and domestic) of passengers at docks and at seaports and airports will benefit.
