Transport businessmen of Uttarakhand are going to get the facility to surrender their vehicle at any time of the year. On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Transport Department has prepared a blueprint for changes in the surrender policy. Confirming this, Deputy Transport Commissioner SK Singh told ‘Hindustan’ that a proposal for a new surrender policy has been sent to the government.
According to this, the owner of a commercial vehicle will be able to surrender his vehicle for the first time in a year for six months at a time. In special circumstances, he will once again be allowed to surrender the vehicle for six months. According to sources, the surrender policy of vehicles in Uttarakhand was very simple till the year 2012. Vehicle owners could surrender their vehicles for a longer period.
In the year 2012, the then government had fixed the limit of surrender. At present, a vehicle can be kept in the surrender category for a maximum period of six months in a year. There is a facility to surrender for three months in the first phase and after that for three months in special circumstances. Due to the prolonged lockdown and the closure of business activities during the Corona period , the need for a change in the surrender policy was felt. Transport traders have been demanding from the government to simplify the surrender policy for a long time.
