Recently, Google has identified eight fraud apps from the Google Play Store and banned them indefinitely. These apps claim to offer cryptocurrency related services. The tech giant said that these fake apps were misleading users by making fake claims.
This is being done in such a way that these apps used to lure users to install these apps on their phones in the hope of getting rich in a jiffy by using cloud mining services. But in reality, it was nothing more than a scam, as not a single app contained any crypto mining operation. However, once a user installed these fake apps, he was charged an additional fee ranging from $14.99 to $18.99, which was charged to increase the income of the users.
Delete apps immediately to avoid fraud
Security firm Trend Micro said in a report that through these 8 apps, users were being implicated with tasks like showing ads, paying an average of Rs 1,115 ($ 15) per month for subscription services. Keep in mind that Google may have removed these apps from the Play Store, but they may still be present in the phones of many users.
