Google Chrome: Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), an agency associated with the Government of India, has issued a big warning for users using Google Chrome. This warning means that if you use Google Chrome Internet browser, then you should be cautious. This warning has been issued especially for those who use this popular browser on Windows or MacOS.

CERT-In has told in its bulletin that Google Chrome users using which devices need to be careful and due to which flaws they are in danger. It states that ‘many flaws in Google Chrome have come to the fore due to incorrect implementation of extension API and use of Free in Skia, V8.’ Attackers and scammers can take advantage of these existing flaws.

Attacker can cause harm from a distance

The existing flaws in Chrome browser have been detected in the most important components of the browser and this is the reason why users can be harmed due to them. The agency has said that due to the existing flaws, a remote attacker can target users from a distance and to do this, he will not even need physical access to the device.

To explain in simple language, without touching your device, it can be hacked through a specially designed webpage. After this, things like stealing your personal data, stealing your identity and emptying the account by doing other scams can also be done.

Users will have to wait for the fix

Although the browser automatically updates to the latest version, but if you have not updated Chrome till now, then you should do so immediately. If your browser has not received the update, then you will have to wait for the fix. Chrome versions older than 133.0.6943.53 on Linux and older than 133.0.6943.53/54 on Windows or Mac fall into the risk category.
