Google Chrome Warning: Big weakness in Google Chrome! The government has issued a warning saying that hackers can steal information and bring the system to a standstill. Desktop users should update Chrome immediately.
Google Chrome Warning: Google Chrome users pay attention! The Government of India has issued a serious warning. According to the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), many dangerous vulnerabilities have been found in Chrome, taking advantage of which hackers sitting far away can run the desired code on your computer, steal important information. Also, your system can come to a standstill (DoS attack). CERT-IN has said that all those who use Chrome on the desktop should update their Chrome soon.
These users are most at risk
According to CERT-IN, in a DoS attack, your computer or network faces so much traffic that it stops working. For Windows and Mac: All versions before 134.0.6998.88/.89 and for Linux all versions before 134.0.6998.88 are affected. The government has advised all Chrome users to update as soon as possible so that they can stay safe.
Install the update with these steps
Click on the three dots on the top right side of the Chrome browser. Then go to ‘Settings’. Scroll down and place the mouse on ‘Help’. A new menu will open in front of you, select ‘About Google Chrome’ in it. A new tab will open in which the version of Chrome will be visible. If there is any update, the browser will automatically show it and give the option to download/install it. Sometimes the browser has to be restarted after installing the update.
A warning was issued for Chrome OS
CERT-IN had earlier released a document according to which several vulnerabilities have been found in ChromeOS (which is used in Chromebook). Due to these vulnerabilities, hackers can spy on you or harm your Chromebook by entering it. According to the cyber security organization, this threat is for users running Chrome on MacBook, PC or laptop. It is not very dangerous for smartphone users.
