Google India Layoff: Google India has reportedly sacked 453 employees from different departments. Google has informed its employees about their dismissal by post. This action is being told late on Thursday night.

According to the report of Businessline, Sanjay Gupta, Country Head and Vice President of Google India has given information through mail. Last month, Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc announced that the company would lay off 6 per cent of its total workforce globally.

That means a total of 12,000 employees will lose their jobs. It has not yet been confirmed whether the 453 layoffs add up to 12,000 job cuts or whether a new round of layoffs has begun.

It’s not clear how many employees have been affected globally, or whether there will be more layoffs. The mail also included some input from Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, according to the report. He agreed to take full responsibility for the decisions that led to the company’s layoffs.

Tell that tech companies are snatching jobs on the pretext of economic recession. Google is not the only tech company to resort to layoffs. Amazon also plans to lay off 18,000 people from its workforce, up from a previous estimate of 10,000 employees. Whereas, Facebook i.e. Meta has laid off 13,000 employees.
