Google Pay App: Tech company Google has announced the closure of its payment app GPay, used for online money transactions. This payment app of Google will be closed in America on June 4, 2024. The company has taken this decision to promote the Google Wallet app launched in the year 2022. The company has given this information through a blog post. The company has advised users to go to Google Wallet instead. Now its old version will not work. The ‘GPay’ app visible on the Android homescreen is an older version. It is used for payment and finance.
Whereas Indian users of GPay do not need to worry about this. The reason for this is that it will be closed only in America. After June 4, this app will work only in India and Singapore. GPay’s standalone app will not be available in other countries.
Google stopped peer-to-peer payments
The app is going to close. In such a situation, Google has also stopped peer-to-peer payments. It has been told in the blog that after the closure of Google Pay app in America, American users will no longer be able to send or receive money to other people through the app. Google Pay users in America have been advised by the company to shift to Google Wallet app. Only with its help you can send or request money. Most of the users in America resorted to this. Google says that it will continue to release updates to the users from time to time. Google has said that Google Pay is being used by millions of people in more than 180 countries.
Google closed its payment apps several times
This is not the first time that Google has decided to shut down the payment app. The company launched Google Wallet in the year 2011. After this Google launched Android Pay app in 2015. In which Google Wallet was integrated. After this, Google discontinued Google Wallet Card in 2016. Now the company has once again decided to integrate all its services into Google Wallet. Google first launched Tez app in India. Whose name was later changed to Google. Now it is present on Google Play Store in the name of GPay. UPI payment can be done through Google Pay app in India.
