This benefit will be given to those employees who do not come under any productivity-linked bonus system and whose monthly salary is less than Rs 44,000 till March 2024. According to the order issued by the State Finance Department, employees of the Muslim community will get this bonus before Eid-ul-Fitr, while other employees will be given this amount between September 15 and 19.
Ex-gratia payment of Rs 3,500 to pensioners
The government has also announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 3,500 for pensioners, which will give money to thousands of retired employees of the state.
Facility of interest-free advance amount will be available
The state government has also decided to give interest-free advance to its employees. Employees whose monthly salary is less than Rs 52,000 till March 2024 will get an advance amount of up to Rs 20,000. This decision is expected to provide relief to government employees in the festive season.
Hearing in Supreme Court on review of backward classes in West Bengal
Meanwhile, the West Bengal government informed the Supreme Court that the state’s Backward Classes Commission is re-reviewing the issue of backwardness. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, on behalf of the state government, told the bench of Justice BR Gavai and AG Masih that this process will be completed in three months. After this, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing till July. The court clarified that this review will be done without affecting the rights of any party. This step of the state government is being considered an important initiative towards re-evaluating the status of socially and economically backward classes.
