Central Government: The Central Government has given great news to its employees. Recently the Central Government had also increased the Dearness Allowance. After this, before the announcement of elections, many state governments had also announced DA hike for their employees. The increased DA came into effect from January 1, 2024.

Education allowance increases due to DA

The Personnel Ministry, in an order on Monday, informed about increasing the limit of education allowance and hostel subsidy. Citing a 2018 guideline, the ministry said that the order provides that whenever the dearness allowance in the revised salary increases by 50 per cent, the limit of children’s education allowance and hostel subsidy will naturally increase by 25 per cent. The ministry said that in view of the increase in dearness allowance of central employees from January 1, 2024, information is being sought about the amount of children’s education allowance and hostel subsidy.

Increase in education allowance and hostel subsidy

The Personnel Ministry has said in its order that now the amount of reimbursement of children’s education allowance, irrespective of the actual expenses incurred by the government employees, will be Rs 2,812.5 per month and hostel subsidy will be Rs 8,437.5 per month. Apart from this, change in the amount in special circumstances has also been mentioned. The ministry said that these amendments are effective from January 1, 2024.
