Information about this was given by the spokesperson of the state government. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held under the leadership of CM Jai Ram Thakur.
Those who retire by December 31 will get the benefit
It was told by the government that the employees who retired between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2021, would also be given the benefit of revised pension and gratuity. Now from January 1, 2016, the minimum pension and family pension in Himachal will be increased from Rs 3,500 to Rs 9,000. The cabinet has increased the capping of gratuity from 10 lakhs to 20 lakhs with effect from January 1, 2016. This change will be applicable to NPS personnel.
Decision to give dearness relief allowance also
Under the new rule, pensioners and family pensioners above 80 years of age will be given revised pension and pending benefits of family pension. It was told by the spokesperson that the cabinet also decided to give Dearness Relief Allowance to pensioners from July 1, 2021.
The change in pension will put an additional burden of Rs 1,785 crore on revenue annually, of which the government has already provided Rs 1,450.44 crore as interim relief. He said that the cabinet also gave its nod to purchase and operate 50 additional ambulances to provide free transport facility to patients under National Ambulance Service in times of emergency.
