Now you can get the benefit of government subsidies directly in your post office savings account. In view of the corona epidemic across the country, the postal department has issued a circular in this regard on 11 August.
Under this circular, if you are entitled to the government subsidy, then by direct benefit transfer (DBT) you can now get it in your post office savings account. However, it is important that your post office savings account is linked to your Aadhaar. However, if your account is not linked to Aadhaar yet, do not worry. You can easily link your account to Aadhaar. At the same time, the postal department has included a column linking Aadhaar for the new account opener. This column will appear in the account opening application / purchase of certificate form.
This is how you can apply offline
An application form has been issued for existing post office savings account streams. These have been issued under the name ‘Application for Linking / Seeding’ and ‘Receiving DBT Benefits into POSB Account’. Through this, account holders can connect their savings account with their Aadhaar. At the same time, account holders can submit their Aadhaar details to the respective post office branch for providing offline links.

After the joint application form, it is a relief to
note that in the last April, the government had issued a joint application form to invest in Public Provident Fund, National Savings Certificate and other small savings schemes. The latest circular of the postal department came after this move.
According to the decision of the
Supreme Court, following the decision of the Supreme Court, the Department of Posts has made it mandatory to have an Aadhaar linked account to get government subsidy. According to the Supreme Court’s ruling on the legal validity of Aadhaar, it is not necessary to link your bank account with the Aadhaar number. To avail government subsidy like pension, LPG subsidy etc., it is necessary to provide the Aadhaar number in your bank account. From the circular issued in this way, it seems that the post office savings account holder will also need to give details of their account to the concerned government authority to avail the subsidy.
