Government’s advice to Google Chrome users, do it soon, otherwise there may be a big loss

Government issued warning for Chrome users, many versions have security risk

CERT-In has said in its note that the vulnerability of Google Chrome can attract cyber attackers. These hackers can sit remotely and do things like execute dangerous code in your system and breach the security. They can even cause buffer overflows and corrupt the software on your system.


New Delhi. One of the most popular browsers in the world, Google Chrome is used by billions of people. In India too, it is used indiscriminately on the computers and mobile phones of crores of people. That’s why it is always a target of hackers. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the nodal agency dealing with cyber security threats, has recently issued an alert regarding Google Chrome.

CERT-In has issued a warning to Google Chrome users, advising them to update their desktop browser at the earliest. Google has acknowledged the flaws in the Chrome browser and released its update. In view of this, CERT-In has issued an advisory note.

Hackers may attack

CERT-in in its note that Google Chrome’s vulnerability can attract cyber attackers. These hackers can sit remotely and do things like execute dangerous code in your system and breach the security. They can even cause buffer overflows and corrupt the software on your system.

There are several serious flaws

This nodal agency of the Government of India has given a ‘High’ severity rating to the problems affecting the Chrome browser. The note states that WebGL, Extensions API, Input, HTML Parser, Web Authentication and iframes, WebGPU and Web UI settings contain heap buffer overflows, out-of-bounds memory in UI Shelf Inadequate data validation in Access, Blink Editing has flaws due to improper implementation. Also dev tools and downloads have flaws like wrong security interface.

Update chrome like this

  • Open Chrome browser and go to Menu.
  • After that click on Help option.
  • Here you will see the option of About Google Chrome.
  • On clicking this, the Chrome browser will start updating.
