Grameen Swaast Seva Scheem: 10 thousand crore scheme for the development of rural health services infrastructure inaugurated

The National Cooperative Development Corporation has announced a loan of Rs 10,000 crore for this in the next few years.




On the lines of Ayushman Bharat, the Narendra Modi government at the Center has announced the launch of the Ayushman Sahakar scheme to build the health services infrastructure of rural India. To overcome the shortage of health services in rural India, the Center has now adopted the way of cooperatives. Under the Ayushman Sahakar Scheme launched on Monday, cooperative institutions will be provided loans to provide other health facilities, from opening hospitals, medical colleges in rural areas. The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has announced a loan of Rs 10,000 crore for the next few years.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture Purshottam Rupala on Monday launched a new scheme Ayushman Sahkar. Under this scheme, the National Cooperative Development Corporation will provide loans worth Rs 10,000 crore to cooperative societies for the development of healthcare infrastructure in rural India. NCDC Managing Editor Sundeep Nayak said that about 52 hospitals in the country are run by cooperative societies. The number of beds in these hospitals is 5,000.

He said that NCDC’s fund will encourage the provision of healthcare by cooperatives. The statement issued by the government said that the cooperatives, which have appropriate provisions for healthcare related activities in the bye-laws, will be able to get loans from the NCDC. This financial assistance from NCDC will be received either through the State Governments or directly to the eligible cooperative societies. Subsidies or grants from other sources will be mutually contractual.

After launching the scheme in a virtual way, Rupala said that the need was felt for the current era of epidemics and construction of facilities. NCDC’s plan is a step towards the welfare activities of farmers by the Central Government. Cooperatives have a significant presence all over the country and especially in rural areas. Cooperative farmers are working in various fields ranging from milk production. Among them are some cooperative institutions that also run hospitals.
