DA Hike 2025: There is good news for central employees and pensioners. According to the news, the government may soon announce an increase in Dearness Allowance, which may lead to a bumper increase in the salary of the employees.

When will the DA hike be announced?

Although the government has not yet officially announced the increase in dearness allowance, a meeting of the Union Cabinet is going to be held on February 28. A big announcement regarding dearness allowance (DA) is expected in this meeting. The government increases dearness allowance twice every year (1 January and 1 July), and this time this increase can be implemented in March. This time the government can increase dearness allowance before the festival of Holi.

How much will Dearness Allowance increase?

According to reports, the government is planning to increase the dearness allowance by 3 percent this time. If this happens, this increase will be considered effective from January 1, 2025. This may also increase the salary of central employees and pensioners.

How much will the salary increase?

If the dearness allowance increases by 3 to 4 percent, the salary of the employees can increase by Rs 540 to Rs 720. For example, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 18,000 per month, they are currently getting Rs 9,000 under 50% DA. If the DA is increased by 4%, the new DA will become Rs 9,720, giving employees Rs 720 more.

More than 1 crore government employees and pensioners will benefit from this increase. It is worth mentioning that Dearness Allowance (DA) is given to employees, while for pensioners it is called Dearness Relief (DR).

Last year’s DA hike

In the first week of October last year, dearness allowance was increased by 3 percent, although this increase was considered effective from July 1. Then the dearness allowance increased from 50 percent to 53 percent. Earlier in March 2024 also, dearness allowance was increased by 4 percent, due to which dearness allowance increased from 50 percent to 54 percent of basic pay.
