The Modi government of the Center has given the gift of Diwali bonus after Dearness Allowance and Relief (DA / DR Hike) to the Central Government Employees under 7th Pay Commission, under which the employees will get 30 days salary as bonus. . Under this, this time the salary of central employees will increase up to Rs 7000.



According to the Finance Ministry, the limit for calculation of payment of ad-hoc bonus will be Rs 7000 as revised monthly emoluments with effect from April 1, 2014. Under this, Group ‘C’ and ‘B’ who are not covered under Productivity Linked Bonus Scheme. All non-gazetted employees of the Apart from this, eligible employees of Central Paramilitary Forces and Armed Forces will also be benefited. As per the order of Department of Expenditure (DOE), Ministry of Finance, employees who were in service on 31st March 2021 and have served at least 6 months during the year 2020-21 They will be paid ad-hoc bonus.

Understand the whole math like this

  • Only those employees who were in service as on 31.03.2021 and who have rendered minimum six months continuous service in the year 2020-21 shall be eligible for payment under these orders .
  • Pro-rata payment (Diwali Bonus) will be given to the eligible employees for the period of continuous service ranging from six months to one full year in a year.
  • The eligibility period will be calculated in terms of months of service (rounded off to the nearest number of months).
  • The quantum of Productivity Linked Bonus (Ad-hoc Bonus) will be calculated
  • on the basis of average emoluments / ceiling of calculation , whichever is lower.
  • The average emoluments for a year will be divided by 30.4 (average number of days in a month ) to calculate the productivity non-linked bonus (ad-hoc bonus) for a day. This will then be multiplied by the number of days the bonus will be awarded.
  • For example, the Productivity Linked Bonus (Ad-hoc Bonus) for 30 days considering the ceiling of monthly emoluments as Rs.7000/- (where actual average emoluments are more than Rs.7000/- ) is 7000 x 30/30.4 = 6907.89/- Rs. ( rounded off to Rs . 6908/- ) will be made.


  • Daily wage laborers who have worked for at least 240 days per year (206 days per year in 3 or more years in case of five working week offices) for the last three or more years in offices having six working days shall be eligible for payment of this Productivity Linked Bonus (Ad-hoc Bonus).
  • The amount of Productivity Non Linked Bonus (Ad-hoc Bonus) payable will be Rs. 1200 x 30/30.4 i.e. Rs. 1184.21/- ( rounded off to Rs . 1184/- ). In cases where the actual emoluments are less than Rs. 1200/- per month, this amount will be calculated on the basis of actual monthly emoluments.
  • All payments under these orders shall be rounded off to the nearest rupee. Various points regarding regulation of ad-hoc/productivity linked bonus are given in Annex.
