GST collection in September: There has been a tremendous jump once again in the GST revenue collection. The Gross GST Revenue Collection in the month of September 2021 is Rs 1 lakh 17 thousand crores. According to government data, the gross collection for September includes CGST Rs 20,578 crore, SGST Rs 26,767 crore, IGST Rs 60,911 crore and Cess Rs 8,754 crore. This collection is 23 per cent higher than the GST revenue in the same month last year. At the same time, this is the third consecutive month when the collection has crossed the Rs 1 lakh crore mark.
What was the condition of August: Earlier, in August, 2021, the gross GST revenue collection was Rs 1,12,020 crore. This includes CGST Rs 20,522 crore, SGST Rs 26,605 crore, IGST Rs 56,247 crore and Cess Rs 8,646 crore.
Let us tell you that the GST collection had come down to below Rs 1 lakh crore level in June 2021 after remaining above Rs 1 lakh crore for 9 consecutive months. However, after easing of COVID restrictions, the GST collection again exceeded 1 lakh crore in July and August 2021. Now even in the month of September, the collection has crossed Rs 1 lakh crore.
Why there has been an increase: Economic growth and strictness on tax evasion, especially action against those who create fake bills, has led to an increase in GST collections. Not only this, the GST collection is likely to remain strong in the coming months as well.
