New Delhi. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced several important decisions after the GST Council meeting on Friday. In this, the exemption from GST on medicines to prevent coronavirus was increased to 31 December 2021. However, about bringing petrol-diesel under the purview of GST, he said that now is not the right time for it.
Know which things have changed in the GST rate-
>> Transportation of export goods by ship or airplane will not attract GST for the next one year. This decision was taken because exporters are facing difficulty in getting refund of input tax credit due to technical glitch in the GST portal.
>> GST on railway parts and locomotives increased from 12% to 18%.
>> GST on Biodiesel reduced from 12% to 5%.
>> GST reduced to 5% on retro-fitment kits used in the type of vehicles used by Divyang.
>> The GST rate on fortified rice kernels used in Integrated Child Development Services Scheme has been reduced from 18% to 5%.
>> The GST rate has been reduced from 12% to 5% by 31st December 2021 on the 7 medicines recommended by the Pharma Department.
>> The GST rate on cancer drugs like Keytruda has been reduced from 12% to 5%.
>> Ordering food from apps like Zomato and Swiggy has become expensive. Eating ice cream will also be expensive. Apps like Swiggy and Zomato will attract a tax of 5%. Tax will be deducted where the delivery will be made.
