Such small traders or small business houses who have no GST dues or tax liability, will now be able to file their GST returns through text message too.
The last date for filing the annual GST return (GST return) for the financial year 2018-19 and the last date for submission of audit report (for more than five crore turnover) has been extended to 31 December. Also, such taxpayers whose returns have to file an audit report will be able to file the returns by 31 January 2021. Apart from this, the government has taken another decision to give relief to small traders. Such small traders or small business houses who have no GST arrears or tax liability, will now be able to file their GST returns through text messages as well. GSTN, which oversees GST returns, announced this on Monday.

GSTN said, this service has been extended to small business houses who file returns on a quarterly basis under the composition scheme. Through this, they will be able to file GST returns without any tax payment liability. Let us tell you that earlier this facility was given only to big business houses. But business houses which have tax dues will not be able to take advantage of this facility.
This way you can file returns
GSTN said that this facility will benefit about 6 lakh industries out of 17 lakh business houses registered under the composition scheme, on which there is no tax due. Such business houses will no longer have to login to the GSTN portal to file a GST return. With only two text messages, they will be able to file their self-assessed tax and validate it. This will enable small traders to file returns.
