H 1B visa canceled in US: big decision by Trump administration, will remain valid till the end of the year

Washington, Pret. The Trump administration suspended H-1B visas visas. According to the administration, this decision to suspend the visa by the end of this year has been taken for the benefit of American workers. The most affected by this major decision of the US administration will be India. Indian professionals will now have to wait until at least the end of the year before stamping. Apart from this, those who renew the visa will now have to wait for a year. 

US President Donald Trump said Monday that the move was necessary to help Americans who lost their jobs due to the current economic crisis. The Trump administration’s move, however, has drawn severe criticism from the human rights community working for immigrants.

The ban on H-1B, H-2B, J-1 and L-1 visas will slow down the pace of economic recovery in the US, including families, universities, hospitals, communities, including employers. The American Immigration Lawyers Association, AILA, said this while expressing concern over the Trump administration’s decision regarding visas.

The Trump administration had been considering this decision on immigration for a long time in view of the increased unemployment in the US due to the epidemic caused by the novel corona virus. India is at the forefront of the countries affected by President Trump’s decision as Indian IT professionals in the US require the most H-1B visas. Actually this visa helps American companies to allow the appointment of foreign professionals.

Non-migrant visa is H-1B 

The visa is a non-migrant visa. It is issued to an employee for six years of work in the US. There are some provisions and conditions for this. Eligibility for this visa has also been determined. Under this, one should be a graduate and have qualification in any one field. There is also a condition regarding the salary of the employee who got the visa, it is necessary to have an annual income of at least 45 lakh rupees. People living there under this visa for five years can apply for permanent US citizenship.
