Hearing on NEET UG 2024 in Supreme Court postponed till July 18

During the hearing on 38 petitions related to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 today on July 11, a division bench of the Chief Justice (CJI) of the Supreme Court and two other judges directed the petitioners to give their response on the detailed report of the investigation of the government paper leak cases and the report of the committee constituted in this regard to the NTA.

The hearing on the petitions filed in the Supreme Court regarding the NEET UG 2024 entrance exam will now be held on July 18. Chief Justice (CJI) Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and other judges Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra, hearing these petitions seeking cancellation and re-conduct of the medical entrance exam, during the hearing held today, July 11, directed the petitioners to give their response on the investigation report submitted by the government and NTA.

Earlier, it was considered an important day for more than 23 lakh students who appeared in the medical, dental, AYUSH and nursing undergraduate entrance examination. The Supreme Court was expected to pronounce its decision today i.e. Thursday, July 11, on the re-conduct of the NEET UG 2024 entrance examination conducted by the National Examination Agency (NTA) on May 5. The decision was expected today on 38 petitions filed in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation and re-conduct of the exam over leakage of question paper and alleged irregularities in the results declared on June 4.

NEET UG 2024: Hearing was also held on July 8

Earlier, these petitions related to NEET UG 2024 were also heard on Monday, July 8. In the last hearing, Chief Justice (CJI) of the Supreme Court Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and other judges Justice J.B. The division bench of Justice Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra had directed the government to submit a detailed report of the investigation of the paper leak cases and the report of the committee constituted in this regard to the NTA by Wednesday, July 10. After this, the division bench had fixed the date of next hearing as July 11.

Apart from this, during the last hearing, the CJI had said that in view of the large number of about 24 lakh students appearing in the examination, it would not be appropriate to order a re-test. In such a situation, the division bench had sought the investigation report to consider re-examination for its potential beneficiaries due to paper leak.
