Different time limits have been fixed by the government for getting color coated high security number plates on vehicles. High security number plates were made mandatory on commercial vehicles from September last year.


Vehicles with numbers 6 and 7 without high security number plates will be challaned for five thousand rupees from November 16. High security number plates are already mandatory on vehicles numbered 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Now the Transport Department has prepared for action on vehicles without high security number plates from 0 to 7 numbers.

Different time limits have been fixed by the government for getting color coated high security number plates on vehicles. High security number plates were made mandatory on commercial vehicles from September last year.

After this, HSRP was made mandatory on vehicles with registration number 0 and 1 at the end of the registration number from 15 February last year, 2 and 3 from 15 May and 4 and 5 from 15 August. Now from November 15, an challan of five thousand rupees will be deducted for not having HSRP even on vehicles having 6 and 7 numbers at the end.

This is the deadline

  • By November 15, 2022, on vehicles that have 6 or 7 at the end of the number
  • By February 15, 2023, on vehicles that have 8 or 9 at the end of the number

Assistant Divisional Transport Officer Administration Sanjay Kumar Jha said that high security number plates will be mandatory from November 15 on the vehicles which have numbers 6 and 7 at the end. From November 16, a challan of Rs 5,000 will be deducted for vehicles bearing numbers 6 and 7 without high security number plates.
