India’s highest revenue toll plaza: You must have often seen Union Minister Nitin Gadkari talking about toll tax. You must have also seen how strict he is about it. In such a situation, many times people wonder how much revenue is being generated from toll or which toll plaza in India is putting the most money in the government’s pocket? So let’s find out which toll is the one from which the government is earning the most money.
However, finding the answer to this can be very difficult. Because as the number of expressways in India is increasing, the toll revenue from them is also increasing rapidly. A recent report claimed that the toll collection in December was higher than last year. IRB Infra Developers Limited and IRB Infra Trust have released data which shows that toll collection in the country has seen a 19 per cent increase, totalling Rs 580 crore in December 2024, as against Rs 488 crore in December 2023.
Amitabh Murarka, Deputy CEO, IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited and IRB Infra Trust, said, “Looking ahead, we expect this growth in toll collection to continue, driven by India’s strong GDP growth, which will increase vehicle traffic across our network spread across 12 states.” According to the data, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway has collected the highest toll tax of Rs 163 crore in December 2024, up from Rs 158.4 crore in December 2023. The expressway covers just 94.5 km. This shows that despite its distance being less than 100 km, it has achieved the highest toll collection in the country.
