Holidays Cancelled : Education Department has released the Holiday Calendar 2024. This time there have been major changes in the holidays. Teachers will not get summer holidays and schools will remain open on many major festivals.


Bihar Academic Calendar 2024 Launched: The Education Department of Bihar Government has launched the academic calendar for the year 2024. In this, the complete list of holidays has also been released. This year’s calendar is shocking and contains many major changes. Under this, the holidays of many big festivals like Mahanavami, Rakshabandhan, Shivratri, Janmashtami, Teej, Jiutiya etc. have been cancelled. There will be no holidays on these days in the year 2024. Not only this, schools will not be closed on Gandhi Jayanti and other such occasions, rather many programs will be organised.

Teachers will not get summer vacation

Under another major change made in this calendar, teachers will not get summer holidays. Schools will be closed only for children while teachers will have to come. During this period, parent-teacher meetings and other types of events will continue.

Eid and Bakrid holidays extended

On one hand, while holidays on some festivals have been canceled, on the other hand, holidays on some festivals have also been increased. For example, Eid holiday will be extended by two days this time for a total of three days. Bakrid holiday will also last for a total of three days. Muharram holiday was one day last year and will remain for two days in the year 2024. Shab-e-Barat holiday has been reduced.

These are the new changes

  • There will be no holiday on October 2 for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, programs will be held in schools.
  • There will be no holiday on Mahashivratri, Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami, Ramnavmi, Jankinavami, Teej and Jiutiya.
  • Holidays of Eid-Bakrid and Muharram will increase.
  • In the year 2023, schools were closed for a total of 64 days whereas in the year 2024, schools will be closed for 60 days including Sundays.
  • If a school is in an area where the Muslim population is high, then with the permission of the DM, it can keep the school closed on Friday instead of Sunday.
  • No school will declare holiday at its own level.
  • Summer vacations can last for 20 to 30 days.
