RBI has told in its annual report that in the year 2020-21, fake notes worth more than Rs 5.45 crore have been caught. According to the report, a total of 2,08,625 fake notes have been caught in the financial year 2020-21. Most of them are 100 rupee notes. The first way to identify the original new note of Rs 100 is that 100 is written in Devanagari on both the front sides of the original note. There is a photo of Mahatma Gandhi in the middle of the note. Also, on the original note of 100 rupees, RBI, India, INDIA and 100 are written in small letters. Notes denomination of Rs 100 or more carry Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait, Reserve Bank seal, guarantee and promise clause, Ashoka Pillar, RBI Governor’s signature and identification mark for visually impaired persons printed in intaglio.
On 200, 500 and 2000 rupee notes, this value is written with a color-changing ink. When the note is held flat, the color of these numbers appears green, but when they are slightly rotated, it changes to blue.
When the note is placed in front of a light, 500 is written here. If the note is kept at an angle of 45 degrees in front of the eyes, then 500 will be written here. Here 500 is written in Devanagari. Compared to the old note, the orientation and position of Mahatma Gandhi’s picture is slightly different. If the note is slightly twisted, the color of the security thread changes from green to blue. – The bank’s 10, 20, and 50 denomination notes have a silver colored machine readable security thread on the front side. This security thread appears yellow in color when exposed to ultraviolet light. It appears in a straight line when placed against the light.
