It is often seen that on changing jobs, instead of the old UAN in the new company, they apply for a new UAN. In such a situation, there are two accounts of the same employed person. It should not happen.
How to merge two UAN: Often people withdraw their PF money while changing jobs. Many times people open a new account in another company. This means that people make a big mistake by not giving the Universal Account Number (UAN) number of the old office to the new company. After this your new UAN is generated. Even after having a UAN, in the event of a second UAN being generated, your fund process stops. If you want to transfer the old fund, then there will be a problem in that too. This means that you will not get the benefit of pension or else the pension amount deposited by your old company will not be added to the next account. Block Old UAN
If there are two UANs, the existing company and EPFO will have to give this information. EPFO may be informed at uanepf@epfindia.gov.in. In this, both the old and the new UAN number will have to be given. EPFO will cross verify both your UAN numbers. After verification, the old UAN number will be blocked by EPFO. How will the transfer request be made?
Your UAN must be activated, linked with Aadhaar. Click on One Employee One EPF option on the EPFO portal. Here you have to fill your registered mobile number, UAN number and company’s member ID. OTP has to be generated before filling it and submitting it. Enter the OTP in the given column. On submission, a new page will open, in the column given here, the details of whatever is the old EPF will have to be filled. How will two UANs be merged?
>> Old UAN is deactivated by transferring the funds of the old PF account to the new PF account.
>> After the transfer request, EPFO verifies the transfer claim. Both the UANs are linked.
>> After the transfer process, EPFO will deactivate the old UAN.
>> The process of UAN merging will be completed automatically. It is not necessary that the employee has requested for this.
>> Once EPFO verifies your new UAN, it will be linked to your PF account.
>> EPFO will alert the employee in this regard through SMS that the old UAN has been deactivated. After this the new UAN can be activated.
Generate UAN Number
Under the service of Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), any person can easily generate their Universal Account Number online by following a few steps.
Follow this step
>> Open the link and click on UAN allotment.
>> After clicking, in the screen that will appear, you will have to enter your Aadhaar number and click on Generate OTP. After that an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
>> After entering the OTP and accepting the disclaimer, the option of submit button will appear on the screen. Click on submit button for further processing.
>> After clicking on the submit button, all the details feed related to your Aadhaar will be displayed on the screen.
>> For example your name, father’s name, date of birth etc. Now you can verify this data and give other details asked on the screen.
>> After this, after entering the captcha and accepting the disclaimer, you can easily generate your Universal Account Number by clicking on the Register button.
