When an Aadhaar card holder moves from one place to another, he/she has to change the address mentioned on the Unique ID proof.
Earlier it was a bit difficult task but now it can be done sitting at home using Aadhar card online service. All you need is your registered mobile number and color scan of address proof in your name to login and get OTP.
Aadhar Card is the most important document that you need to do your daily official work. From getting a new phone connection to filing income tax, everything is now Aadhaar linked and you need to keep it updated to carry out your tasks without any hassle.
If you have moved to a new place and need to update your address or any other details in your Aadhaar, you can do it easily from the comfort of your home. You can also visit the nearest Aadhaar center to update your details. If you wish to update your Aadhaar address online, you can do so by logging on to the UIDAI portal uidai.gov.in. There are two ways to update your address – through a valid address proof document and address validation letter.
Since Aadhar card is the most important identity document, it becomes necessary to update it on time. Recently the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced several tech-friendly methods to update the identity document.
However, sometimes if one wants to change the details in his/her Aadhaar card then it becomes difficult to visit the Aadhaar center to get the card updated. And in the times of this corona virus it is also risky to go to Aadhar centers, which are mostly overcrowded. So if you want to update your address in Aadhar card then you do not even need to visit the center as it can be done from the comfort of your home. Below are the easy steps to update your address in Aadhar card online:
Simple steps to update address in Aadhar card online

Click on the ‘Proceed to Update Address’ tab.
You will be asked to provide your 12 digit Aadhaar number.
Enter the ROBOT code or CAPTCHA code followed by the Aadhaar number and click on ‘Send OTP’.
Select the option to update the address with valid documents.
Now provide the address you want to update in your Aadhaar and submit the document.
Click on submit and the process will be completed.
– You will receive Update Request Number (URN) which can be used to track the status of your application.
After completing the process UIDAI will update your address in the Aadhar card and send you the updated Aadhar card to your mailing address within a stipulated time period. If you do not have a valid address proof then you can also update your Aadhar card address using the verification letter.
Those who do not have a valid address proof to attach can update their address through an address verification letter. For this you will need an ‘Address Verifier’ – a friend, relative or anyone who is willing to be your verifier in the process. An address verification link will be sent to the registered mobile number of the address verifier.
