Hydrogen Train: India has built the world’s most powerful 1200 horsepower hydrogen train, which will run between Sonipat and Jind in Haryana by January 2025. This train covering a distance of 90 km will be completely pollution free.

Hydrogen Train: India is the fourth country in the world to have succeeded in making a hydrogen train. The hydrogen trains built by the other three countries so far have a power of 600-700 horsepower, while India has built the world’s most powerful hydrogen train. Our train is of 1200 horsepower. This train can also be used in other places later. This was said by Union Minister of the Government of India Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday. Railway Minister Vaishnaw was speaking in the plenary session “Green Connections: Contribution of the Diaspora Community in Sustainable Development” of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention.

Let us tell you that the country’s first hydrogen train will soon be seen running at a speed of 140 kilometers on the track between Sonipat and Jind in Haryana. The government has set the timeline for running it by January 2025. This means that this train can run this month, seeing which the world will have nothing to do except be surprised. Note that after Sweden, China, Germany and France, India will be the country to run a hydrogen train.

This will be the country’s first pollution-free train, which will cover a distance of 90 kilometers. It will have 8 to 10 coaches. A diesel train emits about 964 kg of carbon in covering this distance, but this hydrogen train will be completely environment friendly.

3 thousand kg of hydrogen storage at Jind railway station

Special preparations are being made for this train in Jind district of Haryana. A plant is being built to store 3,000 kg of hydrogen at Jind railway station. Along with this, arrangements for underground storage are also being made. Rainwater collected on the roofs of the station will be transported to this plant. The machines required to run the hydrogen train have also been ordered. The trial run of this train will be done in January and it is planned to run it regularly in this financial year.

The train coaches are being prepared at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, which will be ready by December. Two trains are expected to run in the first phase. This train will give mileage equivalent to 4.5 liters of diesel on 1 kg of hydrogen. 2.4 MW of electricity will be required to pull 8 to 10 coaches, for which two power plants will be installed in the train.

Mountain tour also by hydrogen train

Railways plans to run 30 such hydrogen trains on heritage and mountain routes like Matheran Hill Railway, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Kalka-Shimla Railway, Kangra Valley Railway, Nilgiri Mountain Railway in the next three years.
