How to identify fake GST bill?

An easy way to identify a fake GST bill is its GST number. There is a 15 digit GST number on the bill. The first two digits of this number contain the State Code and the remaining 10 digits contain the PAN number of the supplier or shopkeeper. At the same time, the 13th digit is the unit of the PAN holder and at the 14th place is ‘Z’ and at the last is ‘checksum digit’.

Another way to check fake bills is through GST website. You can check the bill here also. For this, go to the official portal of GST https://www.gst.gov.in/ and select ‘Search Taxpayer’ to check the GSTIN number. If the GSTIN is correct, then you will get its details on the portal. Will go and if you don’t get it then understand that it is a fake number.
