new Delhi. The Corrosure Kit of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (iit delhi) for corona virus testing has been launched in the market for Rs 399. It is by far the cheapest test kit in the market and has been approved by the Drug Controller General of India and the Indian Council of Medical Research.
However this kit will not be available over-the-counter. IIT Delhi’s lead researcher V Perumal, who is developing the kit, said that it can only be used in a certified laboratory where RT-PCR testing (RT PCR test) for COVID-19 is taking place. Once the kit starts production in bulk, it can cost up to 20-30 percent of its current price of Rs 399.
He further explained that IIT-Delhi has so far handed over the technology to 10 companies, including Newtech Medical Devices. Two to three more licensees are expected to be given licenses from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CSDCO) in the next 10 days.
