IIT Jobs: There are more than 4,300 teaching posts vacant in all the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across the country. Union Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar gave this information in reply to a written question in Rajya Sabha.
Where are vacant how many posts
The Minister of State said that IIT Kharagpur has maximum number of faculty posts vacant. There are 815 faculty posts vacant in IIT Kharagpur. After this 532 posts are vacant in IIT Bombay, 447 in IIT Dhanbad, 396 in IIT Madras, 351 in IIT Kanpur, 296 in IIT Roorkee and 289 in IIT BHU.
He said that there are 73 vacant faculty posts in IIT Delhi. 115 in IIT Bhubhaneshwar, 45 in IIT Gandhinagar, 132 in IIT Hyderabad, 81 in IIT Indore, 65 in IIT Jodhpur, 73 in IIT Mandi, 100 in IIT Patna, 69 in IIT Ropar, 18 in IIT Tirupati, 24 in IIT Palakkad, There are 31 vacancies in IIT Jammu, 43 in IIT Bhillai, 40 in IIT Goa and 39 in IIT Dharwad.
Increase in the number of students
The minister said that the government has implemented a reservation of 10 percent for the students of poor sections. For this, the government has not reduced the number of seats available for General, SC, ST and OBC categories. The government has increased the number of students by 25 percent for this. Due to which the requirement of faculty has increased in the institutes.
Recruitment being done in mission mode
He said that recruitment of faculty takes time, as the process involves many stages. The education ministry has requested all IITs to recruit faculty from institutions through a mission mode special recruitment drive.
Apart from this, IIMs also follow a rolling advertisement system for applications for faculty positions and have also been asked to fill up the vacancies in mission mode, he added.
