According to the agency Skymet, today there will be moderate to heavy rain in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, West Assam and North-East Bihar and in Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Telangana. Light to moderate rain may occur over some parts, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep with heavy rain at isolated places.

IMD Alert: Due to active weather systems at different places, frequent changes in weather are being seen in the last week of September. A warning of rain and thundershowers has been issued in more than 20 states for the next 72 hours. Especially in 10 states, an alert of heavy rain has been issued.


According to the Meteorological Department, due to the low pressure area over the north-western Bay of Bengal and adjacent Odisha coasts, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in eastern and adjoining central India for the next five days, while the rest of the parts will receive light and moderate rain. There is a possibility of rain.

Alert of heavy rain in these states today

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, on Friday, there may be light to moderate rain with heavy rain at some places in Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, parts of Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep .

There is a possibility of heavy rain in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. There is also a possibility of light moderate to heavy rain in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada. During this period, there is also a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning.

Today, heavy to very heavy rainfall activities can be seen in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim. During the next five days, Western North-West India and Western Central India There will be a decrease in rain activities in parts of Uttar Pradesh.

  • Sporadic rain is expected in Delhi-NCR on Friday and Saturday but the weather may remain dry after September 23.
  • There is a possibility of heavy rain with lightning in Madhya Pradesh (MP), Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on Friday and Saturday.
  • There may be heavy rain in many districts of Jharkhand and West Bengal till Friday and Saturday, there is a possibility of lightning.
  • The rainy season may continue in Bihar till September 25. During this period, there are chances of rain in Odisha also.
  • Very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur from 22-25 September.
  • Heavy rain is also expected in areas of Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal till Monday.
  • Apart from Andaman and Nicobar Islands, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Odisha also.
  • Light/moderate to heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Nagaland during 22 to 24 September in Northeast India.
  • From today to September 25 , there may be heavy rain over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal along with Andaman and Nicobar Islands. There is also a possibility of storm and lightning during this period.

When will monsoon return?

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, this year the monsoon will last for 10 more days than its scheduled time, that is, the rainy season will continue till the end of September. Usually, the departure of monsoon starts from the second week of September but considering the currently active weather systems and the impact of monsoon,

at present the chances of withdrawal of monsoon from anywhere across the country are less. Although the withdrawal of monsoon starts from Rajasthan on 17th September, whereas in Delhi it starts on 25th September, but at present the circumstances are different, in such a situation, it is not possible to announce the withdrawal of monsoon until the rains stop in the entire country.
