Moderate winds are blowing over Northwest India, due to which dense fog has not formed. Fog enveloped many parts of Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan throughout the day. Cold day conditions were observed in many parts of Punjab. The maximum temperature of Delhi and NCR also went below 20 degrees.
IMD Alert, Today Weather Update: As soon as the month of December ends, once again the cold will be at its peak. There is a continuous change in the weather of the country. The weather has turned completely cold. Due to the cold winds coming from North India, the temperature is falling rapidly in the plains and central India. Severe cold is about to start in entire North India including Delhi-NCR.
Before this the knock of fog has intensified. Whereas in South India even today, heavy rain warning has been issued in 9 states. The temperature will continue to drop over Central and West India. Along with this, mist and fog alert has been issued. A warning of heavy rain with snowfall has been issued in the Himalayan regions.
Weather system
Talking about the weather system, a low pressure area has formed over Southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal. Within a short period, the possibility of its turning into a depression intensified. In the event of this, a forecast has been issued to move west-south-south and towards its lesser Orion region in Sri Lanka.
During this , heavy rains will be seen in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Maharashtra, Pune including Rayalseema, Andaman Nicobar and Odisha . On December 25, there is a possibility of heavy rains at a speed of 65 mm per day over Tamil Nadu, South Andhra Pradesh .
Apart from this, Western Disturbance will also form in the form of a trough in the westerly air over the middle and upper troposphere. It is predicted to be 5.8 km above sea level. Due to being situated at 30 degree north latitude, the knock of fog will increase in many areas. Actually, the effect of western disturbance will be on the snowfall of the hilly states. In the event of snowfall, severe cold alert has been issued in many states of northern India.
Cold wave alert has been issued in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab . While an orange alert has been issued for fog in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Orissa including northern Uttar Pradesh . The weather will be cloudy with dense fog.
Dense to very dense fog over Gangetic plains
Dense to very dense fog would be seen over Central Pakistan, Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Indo-Gangetic plains . Whereas , due to fog, light drizzle can be seen in many parts of Haryana, North Rajasthan to Punjab . Rain with snowfall has been forecast in the mountains of Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in a few days. The temperature has dropped below zero in the Himalayas.

Outbreak of cold wave in many states from December 23
From December 23, outbreak of cold wave will be seen in many states. Cold wave forecast has been issued for Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and North Rajasthan for 5 days. Wind speed is indicated. Along with this, scattered rain can be seen due to mist.
Drop in minimum temperature
The fall in temperature continues in the capital Delhi. The minimum temperature has dropped to 6 degree Celsius. The knock of fog has intensified, a decrease of 3 degree Celsius has been observed in the temperature in Rajasthan in the last 4 days. The minimum temperature in Lucknow reached 10 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature in Patna has reached 12 degree Celsius, the minimum temperature in Shimla minus 2, the minimum temperature in Dehradun has reached 7 degree Celsius. Mussoorie recorded a minimum temperature of minus 4 degrees Celsius while Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -2 degrees Celsius.
Fog intensity in Bihar, UP- Delhi
Andaman and Nicobar Islands , Coastal Tamil Nadu may receive moderate rain for a day or two. Weather will remain dry. Light rain and snowfall have been predicted in the western Himalayas. The concentration of fog will increase in Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh.
Cold day alert issued in Punjab
Dense fog will continue in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Manipur, Tripura, South Assam, Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, North Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal while cold day alert has been issued in Punjab including North Rajasthan.
Drop in maximum temperature
The maximum temperature of Amritsar has been recorded at 11 degree Celsius. Ganganagar in Rajasthan recorded a maximum temperature of 13 degree Celsius. Ludhiana, Patiala, Hisar and Karnal recorded a maximum temperature of 14 degree Celsius while Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 20 degree Celsius, recording a decrease of 4 degree Celsius.
Light drizzle is also forecast in the eastern states.
Talking about Puri Raju , many parts of Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya are witnessing a drastic drop in temperature. The density of fog will increase. Traffic service will be disrupted due to fog. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has also predicted light drizzle.
