IMD has said that there may be rain in the north-west and central regions of the country. The Meteorological Department has also given its date.
According to the IMD report, there is a possibility of heavy rain and snowfall in the hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand till October 17. Due to this, the weather patterns will also change in Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh and surrounding plains. People may have to face cold weather.
The Meteorological Department has said that there may be heavy rain in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi from Monday. After this, due to dry winds coming from the Himalayas, the temperature in north-west India is expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius from October 17.
Chances of rain, snowfall in Kashmir
Widespread light to moderate rain or snow has been predicted in the higher peaks during the next four days in Jammu and Kashmir. IMD gave this information on Friday. The capital Srinagar may receive light to moderate rain or snow in the higher reaches during the next 24 hours. There may be widespread intermittent rain or snow during the next four days from Saturday. The weather department said heavy snowfall at some higher altitudes cannot be ruled out during this period, with a 75 per cent chance of snowfall on the higher peaks.
Due to fluctuations in weather, there can be a sharp drop in temperature across Jammu and Kashmir. At present the weather is mainly clear. According to the department, it may be cloudy till this evening and there may be rain or snowfall in high altitude areas at different places in Jammu and Kashmir at night. Due to inclement weather, traffic at sensitive places like Zojila Pass, Mughal Road, Sinthan Top, Sadnatop and other high altitude areas of Kashmir Valley has been affected.
Withdrawal of south-west monsoon
Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan and East Gangetic region of West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and some parts of North Interior Karnataka including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Bihar. The Meteorological Center has given this information on Friday. It has also been said that there are chances of dry weather in Telangana during the next seven days. Rain occurred at isolated places across the state during the last 24 hours.
