IMD Alert: Big news! Rain warning in 8 states in next 24 hours and cold wave havoc in 05 states, know details

Dense to very dense fog very likely over parts of Punjab and parts of Odisha as well as over northwest Rajasthan, Haryana and Tripura.


IMD Alert Today: The weather is changing all over the country. Somewhere strong cold, somewhere cold wave-fog and somewhere rain is being seen. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD Today) has issued a cold wave warning for the next 3-4 days including parts of North India including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, North Rajasthan with very dense fog, on the other hand Tamil Nadu, Kerala And in many states including Andhra Pradesh, an alert of moderate to heavy rain has been issued. Here, on December 29, once again the Western Disturbance will be active, which will cause snowfall on the mountains, due to which there will be a surge in cold and cold wave.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, rains are likely to continue with snowfall over the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the next few days. Another Western Disturbance will form on 26 and 27. While other Western Disturbances are expected to form around 30 December. On December 29, due to a weak Western Disturbance, there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in the hilly areas. Rain is expected to continue at many places in South India even today.

According to private weather forecasting agency Skymet Weather, today rain may occur at many places in Tamil Nadu, South Coast of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, East Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Western Himalayas. Snowfall in the higher reaches of Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and cold day conditions are expected at many places including Himachal Pradesh, North Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. Apart from this, dense to very dense fog is very likely at one or two places over parts of Punjab and parts of Odisha as well as over northwest Rajasthan, Haryana and Tripura.

Rain alert in these states

Light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells very likely over many parts of Tamil Nadu, South Coast of Andhra Pradesh, East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh during next 24 hours. Light rain is likely over parts of South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, North Nagaland and Western Himalayas. Apart from this, there may be light snowfall in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. There is a possibility of rain in Lakshadweep on 27 December.

Cold wave havoc in these states

Cold day to severe cold can be seen in some parts of Punjab and Haryana. Cold wave is expected at one or two places in Himachal Pradesh and North Rajasthan. Apart from this, dense to very dense fog is very likely over parts of Punjab and parts of Odisha as well as over northwest Rajasthan, Haryana and Tripura. Dense fog is going to cover Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana for the next 3-4 days. There has been a warning of increasing cold in Gujarat as well. In the next 24 hours, cold wave will prevail in Saurashtra and Kutch districts of the state.

Mercury will fall in these states, cold will increase

Chandigarh may see light rain on December 31 due to Western Disturbance. Chilla-Kalan season is going on in Jammu and Kashmir, which will end on January 31, till then the fall in mercury and snowfall will continue. Uttarakhand may remain cloudy and mercury may drop rapidly. Cold wave conditions are likely to continue in Punjab, Haryana for next 2-3 days. In the coming days, the temperature may increase by 2 degrees in Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan and UP.
