IMD New Rain Alert: Heavy rain alert for the next four days, know weather condition in your state

Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Odisha, Andaman and Nicobar Islands till July 27. Light to heavy rain is likely over isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan for 3 days.

IMD Alert/Weather Update Today: In the next 24 hours once again there will be a big change in the weather. As soon as the new system becomes active on Tuesday, July 25, a period of heavy rain will start in many states. According to the forecast of the India Meteorological Department, from July 25, heavy rain activities will increase in Northwest India. Along with this, on Monday, heavy rain alert has been issued in Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu Kashmir, Gujarat and many parts of Maharashtra. Scattered to heavy rain is expected in Konkan, Ghat region of central Maharashtra and Gujarat.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal on July 24, under its influence a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region during next 24 hours, giving rain over Chhattisgarh in central India. In Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, an alert has been issued regarding rain and heavy rain at some places on Monday. An alert has been issued for very heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Heavy rains may occur in Dwarka, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Valsad of Gujarat during the next 24 hours.

Rain alert in these districts today

  • Even today, Orange Alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat and Coastal Karnataka.
  • Heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal today.
  • The weather is likely to be squally with wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph over Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Lightning may occur at many places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Marathwada and Gujarat.
  • Scattered rain and thundershowers are likely to occur over Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours, but the Monsoon is expected to pick up pace again from July 25. It is estimated that between July 25-26, there is a possibility of rain at many places in the state.

  • Light to moderate rain is likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during July 25 and 27. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan during July 24 to 27 and West Rajasthan on July 25-26 with heavy rain.
  • Heavy rains are likely to continue over Konkan & Goa and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra till July 27. The central part of the country is also likely to receive continuous rains till July 27. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Odisha, Andaman and Nicobar Islands till July 27. Light to heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan till July 27.
  • Orange alert has been issued for Gujarat on 25th July due to heavy rains in the part of North West India. Rain is expected in West Rajasthan on 25th and 26th. It is expected to rain in different parts of Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on 26th and 27th July.
  • Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Southwest Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on 26th and 27th July, 2023. Light to heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala and Maharashtra during 24-27th.
  • Rain is expected in Rayalaseema during July 25-27. Rainfall is expected in isolated parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on July 24. Rainfall is expected over Northwest India, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from July 25 till 26th. Rainfall is expected between 25 and 27 in different areas of Telangana.

Where did it rain

The IMD said that between June 1 and July 23, 40% excess rainfall has been recorded in northwest India. East Uttar Pradesh alone recorded 29% less rainfall than normal. East and Northeast India received 23% less rainfall than normal between June 1 and July 23. There is no chance of much rain during the next five days.
