The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued an orange alert for northwest India, including a red alert for Rajasthan, while issuing a severe heat wave warning. A senior scientist said severe heat wave has been issued for Rajasthan and a yellow alert has been issued for tomorrow. Similarly, Orange Alert has been issued for Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh and Delhi.
IMD further said that 48.8 degree Celsius temperature was recorded from some parts of East Uttar Pradesh yesterday and Delhi also crossed 47 degree Celsius mark. If we talk about Rajasthan, it has also crossed 48 degrees. He said, “In general, most parts of North West India including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have experienced severe heatwave conditions yesterday. The heat wave situation in Vidarbha is also being reviewed.
With regard to the weather, he predicted that the incoming Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India. IMD said that parts of Jammu and Kashmir are cloudy since today. Therefore, we can expect a significant decrease in temperature after 24 hours, which will eventually ease into ‘severe heat wave conditions over Northwest India, especially over Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan’.
The weather conditions are likely to improve in the state from Monday due to a western disturbance. Also, the IMD has predicted very heavy rain in Thiruvananthapuram distributed over Kerala on Sunday and Monday. At the same time, people have been instructed to remain alert.
On May 17 and 18 also, a warning of bad weather has been issued regarding the wind speed in the South East Sea Lakshadweep area of Keralataxes. At the same time, fishermen have been forbidden to go deeper. The first monsoon rains will be recorded in Andaman from Monday to Tuesday.
