IMD Alert: Rain alert in 12 states, yellow alert of cold wave-snowfall-fog, know complete details

The minimum temperature is expected to drop by 3-5 degree Celsius over the northwestern plains. Due to this, there is a possibility of cold wave in different areas of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan on January 2-3.


IMD Alert, Today Weather Update: Continuous changes are being seen in the weather of the country. A cyclonic circulation has been active over the adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea. Along with this, a Western Disturbance was formed over the Western Himalayas. Due to which the possibility of snowfall has intensified. Forecast of cold wave has been issued in many areas including Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, while possibility of rain has been expressed in many areas including Himachal Pradesh today. The rainy season will continue in the southern state. On the other hand, talking about the eastern states, the intensity of fog will increase in Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland . Along with this, drizzle will also be seen in some areas.

Country weather system

  • From January 2, a further drop in the temperature of Rajasthan will be recorded, while according to the Meteorological Department, from January 2 itself , there can be a huge drop in the temperature in Mumbai . Talking about the country’s weather system, a Western Disturbance was formed, which has now moved further.
  • Due to this, snowfall will continue on the western Himalayas and nearby mountain peaks. Although there will be a slight decrease in snowfall. There is a possibility of rain in some areas of Jammu and Kashmir including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Leh, Ladakh today.
  • In addition an induced cyclonic circulation has formed over North Pakistan and neighborhood. Due to which big changes will be seen in the weather soon. It will have a wide impact on other states including Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh.
  • A Western Disturbance in the form of a trough in the mid-tropospheric westerly winds is active to the north. An induced cyclonic circulation persists over North Pakistan and neighboring lower tropospheric levels. Under the influence of these systems, scattered snow/rain is very likely over Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on 30 December.
  • A cyclonic circulation area is also forming over the equatorial region adjacent to the Southeast Arabian Sea, which is expected to gradually turn into a depression.

Fog and cold wave warning in Delhi

Talking about the capital Delhi, severe cold is being seen in many states of North India including Delhi. The weather is full of fog and mist. Fog and cold wave warning has been issued in Delhi. An alert was issued among the people regarding this. However, with an increase of 2 percent in the temperature, there has been some relief from the cold wave.

Snow-Rain-Fog Warning

  • Scattered snow/rain is likely over Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
    There is a possibility of rain in parts of Meghalaya and Assam.
  • Snow, rain likely in parts of Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
    There are chances of rain in parts of Meghalaya, Assam and Nagaland.
  • In the early morning, dense to very dense fog is very likely over parts of North and Northeast India, while dense fog is likely to cover some parts of Central and East India.
  • Snow, rain likely in parts of Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh.

Temperature dropped below 10 degree in more than 20 districts of Bihar

Here in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar , continuous changes are visible in the weather. In some areas where a rise in temperature is being observed. At the same time, in more than 20 districts of Bihar , the temperature has dropped below 10 degrees. Continuous increase in cold is being seen in 7 districts of Bihar due to continuous drizzle and hail.

Snowy winds continue to wreak havoc in Uttar Pradesh

Snowy winds continue to wreak havoc in Uttar Pradesh. Got to see Kora at home on 29th December. Commuting has become difficult. Visibility has reduced to 50 metres. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of further drop in temperature on 30 and 31 December. School holiday has been declared in many areas of Uttar Pradesh . Meltdowns are continuously increasing in Lucknow, schools have been kept closed in many districts including Noida. Due to the active Western Disturbance, there is a possibility of rain along with snowfall on the mountains. Rain is also possible in the plains. Rain can be seen in some areas of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh today.

Yellow alert of cold wave in Delhi

In the capital Delhi, on December 30, the minimum temperature can be recorded at 8 degree Celsius and the maximum temperature can be recorded at 21 degree Celsius. There will be relief from fog for the time being, light fog will remain. Yellow alert of cold wave has been issued in Delhi from January 1.

Dense fog will cover these areas

According to the weather forecasting agencies , dense fog will prevail in some areas of Haryana, Punjab including North Rajasthan, Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi . Snowfall has been predicted in the hills. Due to rain with snowfall, cold day alert has been declared in the entire hilly areas including Uttarakhand .

Orange alert of Sheetlahar in Rajasthan Gujarat

The torture of winter is also being seen in Rajasthan and Gujarat . In the part of Rajasthan’s Bikaner Jaipur division, where an increase in temperature has been observed on Wednesday. On the other hand, the temperature has been recorded stable on Thursday as well. After Mount Abu, the temperature in Ganganagar has also reached minus. There is a huge drop in temperature in Sriganganagar district. The temperature reached -4 degree Celsius while Mount Abu is also recording minus temperature for 4 days. According to the weather center of Jaipur , it will be visible from 30 September. Due to this, there will be dense fog in some parts of North Rajasthan, while Orange Alert has been issued for Sheetlahar on 3rd and 4th January.

Weather in the country during last 24 hours

  • During the last 24 hours, rain and snowfall activity has been observed in many hilly areas including Jammu Kashmir, Himachal, Uttarakhand . Scattered rain has also been observed in some parts of Punjab , while in Bihar , many areas of Uttar Pradesh have experienced drizzle and hailstorm.
  • Snowfall will increase in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir , Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Srinagar .
  • Dense fog prevailed in many areas including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Punjab, Bengal . Along with this, an orange alert has been issued for dense fog today and tomorrow as well.
  • Cold day warning has been issued by the Meteorological Department in 10 states of the country. People have been advised to be cautious. Cold day alert has been issued in many parts of capital Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat including hilly areas .

Snowfall will increase in these areas

There is a possibility of rain with snowfall in the mountains of Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Jammu Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand . The temperature has reached below zero. People have faced a lot of trouble. Visibility is continuously decreasing. Leh recorded minus 8.6 degrees Celsius, Himachal Pradesh ‘s Keylong minus 7.29 degrees Celsius, Gulmarg recorded minus 4.8 degrees Celsius, while Srinagar recorded minus 3 degrees Celsius.

Cold wave alert in these areas

The temperature is dropping rapidly in the states including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand . Cold wave alert has been issued in these areas.
