IMD Alert: Rain forecast for four days in these states, know complete details

According to IMD, western disturbance is active in western Rajasthan and adjoining areas. A western disturbance is forming on March 29 which is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region.

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely over the western Himalayan region and adjoining plains of northwest India till March 31. It will see a rise on 29th and 30th March. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rains along with thunderstorms in North-East India between March 30 and April 1.

According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) data, light rainfall and snowfall occurred at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hours. During this period, light to moderate rainfall and snowfall were recorded at many places in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim in the North-East. Apart from this, light to moderate rainfall is also expected in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Odisha, Ganga coastal areas and sub-Himalayan areas of West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, North-Eastern states and some areas of North Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra. Light rain in Kashmir, heat in Jammu

Amid the changing weather patterns, there was light rain in the hilly areas of Kashmir on Wednesday. It was cloudy in Jammu, but rain was awaited. In most parts of the state, the day temperature is 5 to 8 degrees above normal. However, it is still cool at night in Kashmir. The minimum temperature was recorded at 9.5 degrees Celsius in Srinagar, 4.7 in Pahalgam, 3.0 in Gulmarg and 0.5 degrees Celsius in Leh. The day temperature in Jammu was slightly higher than normal and was recorded at 28.5 degrees Celsius. According to Meteorological Center Srinagar, there are chances of rain and snowfall in some parts of the state till March 31. There may be heavy rain in some parts on March 30.

Sunshine amid yellow alert in Himachal

There was sunshine in all the areas including Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla amidst yellow alert. Due to change in weather, the minimum temperature has also crossed 17 degrees. Due to rise in night temperature in the plains and hilly areas of the state, the coolness of the weather has reduced in the morning and evening also. Meteorological Center Shimla has issued yellow alert for Thursday and orange alert for March 29 and 30 regarding rain and snowfall in many areas of the state. Orange alert has been issued for heavy rain and thunderstorm at many places for March 29 and 30. There is a yellow alert for thunderstorms at some places for March 28 and 31.

Three percent more rainfall than normal in March…

Himachal Pradesh has received 6 percent more rainfall than normal from March 1 to 27. There was 17 percent less rainfall than normal in Chamba, 18 percent in Kangra, 5 in Una, 9 in Kinnaur and 12 percent less rainfall in Solan. Bilaspur recorded 21 percent more rainfall than normal, Hamirpur 1, Kullu 42, Lahaul-Spiti 3, Mandi 34, Shimla 31 and Sirmaur 116 percent more rainfall.

Mercury crosses 40 in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka

While there is rain and snowfall in the mountains, the mercury has reached near 40 degrees Celsius in many areas of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Karnataka. On Wednesday, maximum temperature was recorded at 41.6 degrees in Gujarat’s Bhuj, 41.1 degrees in Rajkot, 41.5 degrees in Akola and 41.4 degrees Celsius in Washim. This is a maximum temperature of two to three degrees above normal. IMD has predicted heat wave-like conditions in interior parts of North Karnataka till March 29 and in Saurashtra and Kutch region of Gujarat till March 28. In these areas, the maximum temperature at night may remain two to three degrees above normal.
