IMD Alert: Relief due to change in weather, heavy rain alert in 22 states till May 27, know complete details

Change is being seen in the weather across the country. Continuously IMD ALert has expressed the possibility of thunder and lightning in many states. At the same time, the weather remains pleasant in many states with rain and showers.


Heatwave alert has not been issued in any district in the whole of India. Humidity is also being seen in the weather due to the same continuous monsoon activity and pre-monsoon activity.

The same IMD Alert has issued heavy rain alert in 20 to 22 states. Along with this, the possibility of lightning with thunderstorms has also been expressed in many states. At the same time, the Char Dham Yatra of Kedarnath has been banned due to snowfall including strong wind and heavy rain in Uttarakhand. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir on May 24 and 25 as torrential rains lashed the northern part of India.

Heavy rain has been predicted over the northern hills. On May 25 and 26, the Weather Forecast Office has predicted isolated hailstorms over Himachal Pradesh and Punjab as well as Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on May 25. Heavy rain is expected in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. There is a possibility of rain in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Odisha in the eastern region from May 25 to 27. The Met Office said in an advisory that due to southwesterly winds at lower troposphere levels from the Bay of Bengal into the northeast and neighboring east India, there is a possibility of rain in various north-west states.

As per the updates, light to heavy rain and thundershowers will occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next two days. However, from Monday, some of these states will see heavy rains at isolated places. The IMD has predicted a drop of 3-5 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures over many parts of northwest and central India over the next three days, followed by an increase of 2-4 degrees Celsius.

The winter season has started in the Indian region from Saturday. The weather service gave a warning. There is no chance of heatwave in any part of the country during the next 3-4 days. Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for at least 10 districts in Kerala, and the Idukki district administration has opened the shutters of the Kallarkutty and Pambala dams to release excess water on Saturday and Sunday.

According to officials, after the situation improved, the orange alert was changed to yellow alert for Delhi, Punjab and Haryana. The Char Dham Yatra of Kedarnath has been stopped due to heavy rains. The district administration stopped the pilgrimage to Kedarnath Dham in Rudraprayag citing the safety of the pilgrims.
