Alert issued for five districts of Kerala The

Meteorological Department has issued this alert for Kerala. Actually, several days before the onset of Southwest Monsoon, the rainy season has started in Kerala. The IMD on Sunday issued a warning of torrential rains in five districts of the state on Sunday and Monday.

The IMD has issued a red alert in view of heavy rains in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode on Sunday . At the same time, the department has issued a red alert for Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur districts for Monday. According to the department, except Kasaragod, an orange alert has been issued for the rest of the districts of the state on Sunday.

Instructions to all District Magistrates to deal with the situation

Kerala Revenue Minister K. Rajan told the media that all the District Magistrates have been instructed to deal with any emergency. Rajan said, ‘We had a meeting on Saturday under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. Instructions have been issued to all the District Magistrates and concerned officers. The rivers are not in spate at this time. We have issued special instructions for hilly districts and asked threat analysts to closely monitor the situation.

Know when Red Alert is issued

According to the Meteorological Department, Red Alert means that there may be about 20 cm of rain in 24 hours. On the other hand, the Orange Alert means that there may be 6 to 20 cm of rain during this period, while under the Yellow Alert, there is a possibility of 6 to 11 cm of rain in 24 hours.

Meteorologists had issued a red alert for Ernakulam and Idukki on Saturday. The city remained waterlogged on Sunday due to the overnight rains in Ernakulam. According to media reports, life has been disturbed in many places due to rain in Kerala on Sunday.
