Issuing an alert, the Meteorological Department said that the western disturbance will show its effect from today. Rain is expected in many parts of Rajasthan in the next 2 days due to the effect of new western disturbance. Dense fog delays flights

It is worth noting that Himachal Pradesh has recorded a huge rainfall deficit of 84 per cent in January, which is a matter of concern. The IMD said that the state received only 13.3 mm of rainfall against the normal average of 85.3 mm, which is the ninth lowest rainfall in January since 1901. Despite some sporadic spells of rain and snowfall this year, the huge deficit has put the state in a drought-like situation. On the other hand, flight operations at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, West Bengal were largely affected on Sunday due to dense fog, poor visibility and cloudy weather. Flight operations were disrupted since Sunday morning due to dense fog, forcing Kolkata airport authorities to resort to low-visibility procedures at 05.40 am as poor visibility affected arrivals and departures till 08.00 am, sources said.
