IMD has issued a yellow alert for cold wave fog in Delhi till January 21. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for cold wave from Monday to Wednesday and a yellow alert for dense fog from 19 to 21. Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions very likely over many parts of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi till January 17 and thereafter at isolated places on January 18.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for cold wave and dense fog in the states of North India till January 19. On January 17-18, there may be a drop of 2 degree Celsius in the minimum mercury in the north-western and central regions of India. There is a possibility of cold wave in Delhi-NCR (Delhi-NCR Weather) from 16 to 18 January. A new Western Disturbance is expected to become active on January 18.
Cold wave-fog alert in these states

Chance of rain and snow
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a warning has been issued for more dense fog with cold wave in western Uttar Pradesh from Monday to January 19. There is also a possibility of rain from 18 to 20 January. There is a possibility of cold wave in Rajasthan, interior parts of Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jharkhand, Haryana and Bihar during this period. There is a possibility of snowfall in some areas of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan between January 16 and 18. There is a possibility of rain in Himachal Pradesh including interior Karnataka and light rain and snow in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
There will be a huge drop in temperature
According to weather forecast agency Skymet, mercury is expected to drop further in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, western parts of Madhya Pradesh and north central Maharashtra. During the next 24 hours, there may be a drop of 2 to 3 degrees in the temperature of Northwest and Central India. Apart from this, dense fog has been predicted in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for the next 3 days. The effect of cold wave and frost can be seen in Haryana till January 18.
Chance of rain, snowfall, snowfall in these states
According to IMD, cold is likely to increase further in Uttarakhand in the next few days. Warning has been issued regarding cold wave conditions in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. There is a possibility of snowfall in the mountainous areas of Uttarakhand and rain in the lower areas due to the increase in the activity of Western Disturbance from coming January 18. Ongoing rain and snow activities over Western Himalayas will stop, light rain and snow may occur in Arunachal Pradesh. There are chances of rain in UP and Rajasthan till January 20. There is a possibility of continuous snowfall in the hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The weather will change again in Jammu and Kashmir from January 19 and there will be snowfall and rain till January 24.
